The old Vanilla Forums had no tools to combat spam, so we're now using SMF.  If you have any problems registering, please send me an email at hi@otter2d.com.  Thanks!

Love the new look, but I'll miss all those deals for cheap Louis Vuitton bags and Jordans :D

Clearly new to the forum, and just happened to stumble upon Otter2D while looking for a C# framework. It's said that Otter2D is built upon SFML 2 (the .Net version I assume). Would you recommend that I start messing around with SFML first or would it be fine to jump straight in to using Otter?

Kremling,
I just dove into Otter code. With the examples given you can get setup pretty quickly and get the idea.

I'm sure having some prior knowledge on how SFML or another game library would be helpful, but not required.

I second just diving in. I had little knowledge of SFML prior, and dove right in. My prior knowledge of FlashPunk also proved to be pretty handy :D

For some reason SMF isn't letting me change my avatar.
If I put in an external URL it just...silently fails, and if I try to upload something it tells me that attachments are disabled.

Obviously not a huge deal, it's just an avatar, but y'know.

I created a test user account and pasted an image URL in for the forum profile and it worked.  What are the dimensions of the image you're trying to use where it silently fails?

100x100
Here's the URL, in fact
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3104371/kyoobAvatar2point0.png
I hit enter or save and it just defaults back to "No avatar"

ed: It's the only entry that flat out doesn't work.
Maybe it's the https?
I'll try not using a secure connection, maybe that'll work.

edos: Yup, that did it.
That's a weird glitch.
